GROUPLOVE'S NEW ALBUM WILL SOON BE OUR HEALER
Deeply adored, energetic rock band Grouplove are back after two years of writing and recording what is anticipated to be an album of their most visceral and cathartic songs to date. Having not released an album since 2016’s Big Mess, the singles the group has released recently are hyping fans up for Healer, the album’s big March 13th release.
The group just released their latest single, “Youth,” along with a nostalgic video starring Grace Zabriskie (Twin Peaks, Seinfeld).
The song is about taking advantage of your youth and living in the moment: “I tried to tell you, life is gonna pass you by. Stay in this moment or you'll find yourself runnin' out of time.”
Last month, Grouplove kicked off Healer with the release of their lead single, “Deleter.” Billboard hailed the “much-anticipated return” as “political and powerful” while Consequence of Sound stated, “For the first single from a new album, it certainly bodes well for the musical direction Grouplove are going in.”
The two singles are definitely different from one another, “Youth” being a more mellow tune carried by a heavy baseline and floaty vocals, while “Deleter” is your typical, colorful, jump-around-like-a-maniac Grouplove track. The two songs show the spectrum of music that Healer will present.
The group shares via Spotify that the album was recorded while the band experienced and witnessed a great deal of "change, trauma, and growth...from recording in El Paso within eyeshot of the border during the height of the family separation crisis, to brain surgery for frontwoman Hannah Hooper." This album represents a re-birth for the group, and fans are bound to be touched, empowered, and excited by what they hear.
Keep an eye out for Grouplove’s fourth album Healer coming March 13th.
