Child's Play EP (CD)

Child’s Play is the debut EP from 15-year-old Australian rock wunderkind Maple’s Pet Dinosaur - a collision of heavy ‘90s alt-metal riffs, soaring emotive vocals, serrated wordplay, and a warped VHS-horror aesthetic.

The title track opens with a detuned, discordant riff stacked over a mountain of drums by Dan Stivens, moving from a rap-like cadence into vocal runs inspired by Ariana Grande and Christina Aguilera. Born from her experience navigating adult, male-dominated festival and club spaces, the concept features a Chucky-meets-Monster-High alter-ego designed to empower young girls to take initiative.

Alongside breakout singles “lego” and “chorus,” the EP introduces three new tracks: ‘Big Mouth,’ which showcases a playful, sarcastic, Beastie Boys-inspired flow, and the closing track ‘Ice Cream Truck,’ a live favorite built around the line, “I’ll never chase a boy like an ice cream truck”. Physical releases of the EP include special surprises, blending tangible vintage pop culture nostalgia with a sharp-tongued vision for the future.
