The Gold-certified album produced two Top 10 singles: “Low Rider,” whose laid-back groove became a pop-culture staple, and the title track, a million-selling anthem of unity that was beamed to the U.S. astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts during the historic Apollo-Soyuz link-up in 1975.
Quadraphonic sound, or 4.0 surround sound, utilizes four audio channels connected to four speakers positioned at the corners of a listening space. The multi-tracked audio is mixed dimensional, immersing the listener in an expansive soundscape.
